Scrabble Rack Attack game info
Scrabble Rack Attack is a word puzzle game inspired by the classic board game Scrabble.
Gameplay
Each round, players are presented with a rack of seven letter tiles and challenged to form as many words as possible within a limited time.
For every word in the dictionary that can be created with the letters on your rack, an empty word slot is shown on the game board.
Next to the word slots are bonus flags, one for each word length. They are calculated by multiplying an amount based on the word length (3 letters = 10, 4 letters = 20, 5 letters = 30, 6 letters = 40, 7 letters = 50) with the amount of words there are of the respective length. For example, 16 words of length 4 equals 20x16 = 320 points. Find all words of a certain length to earn the bonus points.
On the right is the Scoring Meter, which goes up for every tile you score. Get to the Next Round flag on the Scoring Meter to advance to the next round.
The Scoring Meter has some other bonus flags:
- Double Word: Each subsequent word score is doubled.
- Triple Word: Each subsequent word score is tripled.
- Time Bonus: One minute is added to the timer.
When you passed the Next Round flag and don’t find any words anymore, you can press the End Round button to advance to the next round.
Difficulty Levels
Scrabble Rack Attack offers three difficulty levels:
- Easy: Each round lasts 5 minutes. It is easier to reach the next round (next round flags lower). The bonus for getting all words is lower (250).
- Normal: Each round lasts 4 minutes. Normal difficulty to reach the next round. The bonus for getting all words is 500.
- Hard: Each round lasts 3 minutes. It is more difficult to reach the next round. The bonus for getting all words is 750.
Scoring
Scoring in Scrabble Rack Attack mirrors traditional Scrabble mechanics. Each letter has a point value based on its rarity in the dictionary. The score earned for a word is the sum of its letter values.
When the Double Word bonus flag has been reached, the word score is doubled. It is tripled when the Triple Word bonus flag has been reached.
Complete all the words to earn the All Words bonus shown at the top of the Scoring Meter. In Normal and Hard modes, the bonus amount decreases every second, so finish quickly to score the most points!
Controls
The interface is simple and intuitive: drag and drop letters to create words, then press the Submit button.
You can also use the keyboard: type letters to create words, then press Enter to submit the word.
On the right is a Shuffle button which shuffles the letters on your rack. This can be useful when you have difficulty finding more words. You can also shuffle your rack by pressing Spacebar.
Developer
Scrabble Rack Attack is developed by Funkitron and was initially released in 2004 as a Flash game. We use Ruffle technology to emulate it and still make it available to our visitors.
